ISRO Announcement Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon
Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon (BAH) is a flagship initiative launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2024. Designed as a premier outreach program, BAH seeks to ignite curiosity and innovation among young minds across the country. Held annually in the run-up to National Space Day on August 23, the hackathon provides a dynamic platform for students to explore and solve real-world space science and technology challenges.
The second edition of BAH was officially launched on June 18, 2025, by Dr. V. Narayanan, Secretary of the Department of Space (DOS) and Chairman of ISRO. This edition features 14 problem statements spanning domains such as Geospatial Technologies, Space Science, Image Processing, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
Students from across India—pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or Ph.D. programs—can participate in teams of 3 to 4 members, collaborating to develop innovative solutions to the proposed challenges. In the first level of screening, 140 teams will be shortlisted based on their ideas and problem-solving approaches. A second screening round will further narrow down the selection to 30 top-performing teams, who will compete in a 30-hour Grand Finale on August 7–8, 2025, at NRSC, JD Metla Campus, Hyderabad.
During the launch, Dr. V. Narayanan emphasized the transformative potential of the hackathon, stating that the ideas and prototypes developed by participants could lead to the creation of groundbreaking technologies and significantly influence future space applications. He encouraged students to approach the problems with curiosity and an open mindset, viewing the hackathon as a stepping stone toward innovation in space technology.
The event was graced by the Scientific Secretary of ISRO, Directors from various ISRO Centres and Units, experienced mentors, and senior ISRO scientists, all of whom expressed support for nurturing the next generation of space innovators.
